Queen Latifah, 42, is set to headline the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival in California for her very first pride performance. Despite multiple reports across the web that the rapper and actress is coming out, the press release announcing her gig at the Gay Pride celebration on May 19 does not mention her sexual orientation.In the release, Long Beach Pride Inc. Co-President Pat Crosby states, “From hip to R&B, pop to standards, Queen Latifah is the voice of our generation, and her concert here will be phenomenal, for her to make her worldwide Pride debut here in Long Beach is a tremendous testament to the popularity of our celebration and to the strength of our community.”
As we all know, Pride celebrations often feature a female headliner and no one assumes they are lesbian. However, Queen Latifah has been questioned numerous times about her sexuality over the course of several years. Latifah is rumored to have broken up with her longtime lover celebrity fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins, just last year.We will be covering Long Beach’s Gay Pride celebration, and we’ll let you know if the Queen uses this platform to publicly come out of the closet.
