Looking for somewhere a bit...out there? to visit or tour? I've lived in the highland cloud forest of Boquete, Panama for almost 8 years. Boquete is a small (5000) town, an hour below the Costa Rican border. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, it is COOL year round. There are lots of good restaurants, almost no night life, high end to hostel hotels...but the most amazing scenery, hikes, trails, hot springs, and coffee farm tours. Boquete grows the best arabica coffee, anywhere. Promise. I'm not just saying that because I actually GROW coffee...that's another story.
It is a very gay friendly environment and there are several small, tucked away cabin style resorts in beautiful settings that cater to gay and lesbian travelers. Come visit! The water is safe to drink, the natives are friendly.
