TOPIC: Quitting Cloves!
#553
Re:Quitting Cloves! 4 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 3
My Daily QuitNet.com Stats:
Your Quit Date is:Sunday, April 04, 2010 at 5:00:00 PM
Time Smoke-Free:24 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes and 16 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked:366
Lifetime Saved:2 days, 19 hours
Money Saved:$93.75

YAY for me. ECK! I am not enjoying this one bit. Had another rough night last night...and the night before. I used to buy cartons and store them in the freezer until I needed another pack. Now the freezer, in fact the entire fridge has become this icon that reminds me of how much I want to smoke. Every night when I get home from work and all weekend long I find myself incessantly opening and closing the fridge and freezer door in search of items that are not there. Then I typically end up substituting the cigarette craving for something to eat. I feel like the nicotine withdrawals are most likely gone and the nicotine is hopefully out of my system, but the habit is a bitch to break.

Anna and I just joined a local women's indoor soccer team, so in a week or two we will have something physical to do in the evenings and weekends. I'm looking forward to that. Going outfit shopping probably this weekend which will be fun! Hopefully this will help keep me busy, away from the fridge and food, provide some exercise and the loss of a couple unwanted lbs, and will be a fun activity for us. We shall see.

As you can see, I have been avoiding posting lately. I feel like a whiny baby...maybe because I am a whiny baby!
Today is day 25 and it has been VERY difficult to keep the quit. I seriously recommend not trying a cig if you don't smoke. I got hooked before I knew it. I kidded myself for a while, but after 10 years, it's no fucken joke.
I have gained between 5-10 lbs and beat myself up for it everyday. Truth of the matter is, I would have gone back to smoking already if I could smoke cloves, but seeing as they're BANNED;I cannot (thanks Obama, NOT)!
I also feel a tad depressed. No wonder they prescribe anti-depressants! I get it now! It's true, you DO feel like ass!
Mel's been a trooper:) Especially considering she can get her beloved menthols just about anywhere.
Anyways, I think I might see if I can order mine online somewhere...just check and see...why not....right?
BTW: all the advice and support have been great! You girls are the best! Hope to meet you someday:)
for now....
still not a smoker:(
LOL

Girls, don't beat yourselves up about gaining a few pounds, remember, nicotine is a stimulant, so without it in your body, your metabolism WILL slow down, but keeping active and playing soccer will help so don't despair......Keep at it girls.....don't give in, you can do it! TRUST ME, I know it sucks....but give it time.....

U girls gonna be at LB Pride? Might see you then! Stay strong!

Okay today is the big 30! Not just for my best friend Rod (Happy Birthday btw), but also for Anna and I. At 5pm today it will be 30 days since we quit. I guess congrats to us, although I am still so upset about it.

Current QuitNet.com Stats:
Cigarettes NOT smoked:442
Lifetime Saved:3 days, 9 hours
Money Saved:$112.50

We are going to Vegas this weekend for Rod's 30th bday and I am not sure I am going to make it. Honestly, I'm not sure I want to make it. =(

We shall see....for now still a non-smoker.

Ok, so I have not gone online to buy my beloved cloves but I really want to!
Thanks for the support Nicolle & Quinshiba:)
Today marks an entire month of quit! Here are my stats:

Quit Date is: Sunday, April 04, 2010 at 5:00:00 PM
Test Time Smoke-Free: 29 days, 12 hours, 48 minutes and 56 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 177 -Wow, that's a lot!
Lifetime Saved: 1 day, 8 hours- That's all!? That's BS!
Money Saved: $63.00- What can I do with a measly $63???

Here's what my support email had to say today:

WHO'S BETTER THAN YOU TODAY?
You've made it! A whole 1 month without a cigarette! In that time, you've successfully navigated the physical chaos of withdrawal, the emotional highs and lows of early quit, and the pitfalls of relapse!
MY RESPONSE:
"Successfully" my ass! I've been a whiny bitch and would've relapsed had I been able to get my smokes!
WHO'S BETTER THAN YOU TODAY?
Countless times you've refused the offered cigs. More times than that you've craved nicotine, but opted for health, instead. You've endured teasing, lack of support, and feeling uncomfortable and out of place among smokers. You may have had issues with weight, anger, tension or sadness, but still you stayed SMOKE-FREE!
MY RESPONSE:
No one has offered me a clove...probably because no one HAS one to offer! I have NOT been around smokers cuz I told everyone NOT to light up around me. Yes indeed, I am: fat, tense, and sad! Not to mention anxious and easily distracted.
WHO'S BETTER THAN YOU TODAY?
You're adjusting to a whole new lifestyle. You're already thinking different thoughts. You've changed habits and routines. You've made new friends and, perhaps, let go of some old ones. You're starting to realize the benefits of living a SMOKE-FREE life. More and more, you see yourself as a non-smoker. We hope you're as proud of you as we are.
MY RESPONSE:
I'm "thinking" this is bullshit and I want to go back to my old "habits and routines." I'm "realizing" it might be better for me and everyone around me if I have a "SMOKE-FULL" life. Not so proud of that..
WHO'S BETTER THAN YOU TODAY?
And while you've been doing all this for yourself, you've been helping everyone here at the Q: your membership in our community, whether active or passive, has demonstrated an ongoing support of the efforts of all of us. We hope you stay with us as you continue your SMOKE-FREE journey to a fuller, richer, healthier life.
MY RESPONSE:
I've not been by myself! Thank you to Mel, Nicolle, Quinshiba & Sarah!

until next time.........

Hey girls! Just checkin' on y'all! How ya been?
Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. We picked up a stray puppy around here...and he was sick with parvo & now they're afraid of him possibly having distemper. I've been stressed to the max and broke down. My gf gave in and bought me a pack and allowed one cig...
she hid the rest from me.
So, I guess I've been a little feeling a little guilty to come on here and offer words of support while I have been giving in a little.

I hope y'all had a blast in Vegas and I still have faith that we can all quit this friggin' habit

Aww! how sweet of y'all to save that kitty!

is it bad to want to hug you guys for failing like i had? that is bad, isn't it? it's like a sigh of relief that this quitting thing is in fact hard for anyone trying to quit! relief that it's not just me doing this alone! it's been bad the last week for me. of course i ran out of patches and i hate to admit it to my girlfriend or myself that i STILL need something!!!

i hope ya both try to quit real soon. lol no pressure, sorry. 30 days quitting. those cigs and cloves HAD to taste nasty. it did for me...but i still smoked. so, i understand.

i am back on my patches. the recommended two week package that i have now been on for 4wks!!
keep track of your smoking habit. check yourself if you start feeling like you're smoking more again. Uggh...it doesn't take long.

don't beat yourself up about slipping..it'll only kick the habit in full gear. just get back to quitting when you're ready. sorry anti-smokers who are DYING for the smokers to quit but that's the only way this thing will get fixed. a smoker has to really REALLY want to quit smoking.

the best of luck to you both of course when you're ready to quit again...and again...lol and again!! Damn those lil demons
