Yesterday my beautiful girlfriend and I celebrated our 2 year and 5 month anniversary. Some of our friends laugh and poke fun at our monthly ritual of taking the 26th day of the month to celebrate being together. It may sound sappy and a bit excessive to some, but I think that if more lesbian couples incorporated a monthly date night into their schedules, there would be a decrease in the number of lesbian members in the LBDS Club (lesbian bed death sydrome)!
When you're in a committed, long-term relationship with a woman that honeymoon stage seems to fade too quickly. Women are very emotional beings, yes it’s true, and when we’ve had a rough day or we’re stressed or just tired, sex and affection tend to be the last thing on our minds. So, when you and your girlfriend have been together for a while and life starts taking over the raging hormones that used to keep you up all night for weeks at a time, you’re bound to find your intimate time taking a back seat to your daily routine.
Don’t wait for this to happen! You need to plan a date night, and not just once a year on your anniversary. It needs to be a set day that both of you remember every month where nothing gets in the way of spending time with your one and only woman. Ladies, this means no friends, no facebook, no family, no home improvement, and no tv unless it’s what you both decide you wish to do with your time together. Everything else needs to take a back seat to her for one day. It’s time to focus on each other.
Romance her. Pick up a card and remind her of something from a past anniversary that makes you smile. Bring her one red rose or maybe dinner from her favorite take-out joint. Wake up on that morning and cook her breakfast in bed with a little intimate massage after. Or run a warm bath and set your ipod to her favorite playlist.
Your goal here is to have a day to make your woman number one again, like she was that first week when you called in sick to work 3 times just so you didn’t have to leave her beautiful naked body in bed alone those mornings. So celebrate your monthly anniversary or even make every second Tuesday your date night. Just do something to spice it up again ladies! Date night is a must!
